How to Donate Items:

Many people like to donate food, treats, bedding, and even medicines to help with the cost of sheltering the homeless and abandoned pets in our area. We appreciate these donations. Ask for a receipt if you want the deduction.

Food and supplies for the animals:

The Shelter tries to feed a consistent diet to the animals. We accept the following brands:

Chow: Purina brand cat, kitten, puppy and dog chows.
Canned foods: cat and dog food – Alpo and/or Purina brands are preferred.
Cat litter: the plain, non-clumping clay type.
Treats and toys: For dogs: high quality rawhide chew treats; “kongs” to fill with peanut butter; high quality balls and other toys. For cats: various toys and food treats.
Equipment for the animals: We use collars, leashes, brushes, stainless steel bowls, etc. Occasionally we need crates, and the cats appreciate clean, solid climbing “trees”, etc.
Medicine, etc: We need basic medicines like medicated shampoos, nail clippers, hair clippers, etc at different times.

Items for the office/general Shelter activities

Depending on the situation, we have a list of needed items for the office and for general Shelter activities. These range from the obvious (office supplies) to the “big ticket” items like a van for use doing Animal Control.

Copier paper: We can always use plain white paper, and colored paper, too.
Misc.office supplies: We use certain styles of folders, lots of stamps, etc!
Washing machine/dryer: Imagine the amount of laundry we do at the Shelter! Regularly, we wear out these machines. If you have a high quality machine in good working order, contact us to let us know. The timing might be right for us to take it!

Aluminum cans and printer cartridges:

Aluminum cans: We turn in aluminum cans in Reedsburg (at the parking lot for Viking Village Foods on the east side) and at the Shelter itself (in West Baraboo.)
Printer cartridges: We collect these as part of a program that recycles them.
